It’s not your fault

Apparently, my last blog about the low conversion rate of auditions on pay-to-play sites, made a few folks nervous. Oh, well. Did you take a look at your success rate yet? Are you going to? Some people just prefer to bury their head in the sand. “Auditioning is part of what I do”, they say, “and if I start tracking the number of auditions that lead to actual bookings, I’ll only get discouraged.”
Perhaps it’s time for a reality check. Perhaps you’ll find out that it’s not your fault that your auditions disappeared into a black hole. And maybe you’ll discover just like I did, that a disturbingly high number of voice-seekers never even select a talent.
Disney’s customer service is supposed to be the very best in the world. This is one of their mantras: “It’s not my fault, but it is my problem”. And that’s precisely why I decided to tackle this topic. This time I’m going back to my roots to make a point. And -as they say in the movies- what you’re about to read is based on a true story…
